BTEC Sport student Neng Wildman has competed against the elite of Lancashire to win the 100m at the Lancashire Schools Athletics Championships in Wigan.
Neng is a member of Pendle Athletics Club and has been running competitively for around 5 years. He competed in 100m and 200m competitions whilst still a pupil of Ss John Fisher and Thomas More Catholic Humanities College and qualified for the Lancashire Schools Championships.
An exceptionally strong athlete, Neng got through to the final in both the 100m and 200m and finished 3rd in the 200m, where he gained a personal best time. He also ran an amazing race in the 100m to win 1st place! He managed to equal his personal best and an English Standard and will now go through to the English Schools Championships which take place in Birmingham – success at the nationals could even earn him a place at the European competition!
Head of PE and Sport at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form, Catherine Stanworth said, “Neng is a really committed student who shows a lot of dedication to his athletics and his studies. We were thrilled to learn of his success at the Lancashire Schools Athletics Championships and we are confident that he will work hard to achieve similar success in the Nationals.
