Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form has a long-standing tradition of excellence where each year, students progress onto competitive degree programmes and into challenging and rewarding careers. The Business Studies department at the College is committed to instilling and ethos of excellence into its students and with this in mind, offered its second year A Level students the chance to participate in an additional Tutor2U revision session.

Tutor2U is a national organisation offering revision resources and workshops to students across the UK. Usually held in cinema complexes at a cost to the participants, the College students were able to benefit from this excellent additional revision help as their tutor Ryan Cook is one of Tutor2U’s own lecturers!

The revision session ran all morning from 9.30-12.30, and was offered in addition to the students’ regular studies. Head of Division for Business Studies, Sport, Public Services and HE, Ryan Cook, said, “It is my opinion that the revision sessions of this nature have several benefits. Not only does it allow a useable timeframe to really penetrate the material to an appropriate intellectual depth, but more importantly than that, it sends out a message to all students that it’s ‘go time’ and say now is the time to really work as the exam approaches. It also exposes students to the level of understanding of their peers, which for some, highlights their weaknesses in that subject in order to target their revision more effectively and in working two tutor groups together, it allows for a sense of camaraderie, as well as a good opportunity for peer learning to occur.”
