Art enthusiasts are invited to attend a stunning exhibition produced by Nelson and Colne College students.
The Art and Design End of Year Show will open to the public between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday, June 17th to Friday, June 19th at the College, following a VIP preview night on Tuesday, June 16th.
The event is a huge celebration of the work of the College’s A Level and vocational students, and will be attended by representatives from local creative industries.
This year, in partnership with . This year, in partnership with In Situ and PEARL, a joint venture between Pendle Council and Barnfield, a foundation diploma pop-up exhibition will also be hosted at Northlight Mill, in Brierfield, between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, June 27th to Sunday, June 28th.
Head of Creative and Digital at Nelson and Colne College Morag Davis said: “We are extremely excited to showcase our students’ work and are looking forward to inviting the public in to see their incredible work.
“The exhibition at the College will also include work by students from our BTEC Extended Diploma in Photography and Media. For their final pieces, the students could choose between photography and video – with some working with artist led not-for-profit organisation In Situ.
“Student Rebecca Singleton has a particularly captivating story. Several generations of her family have worked at Brierfield Mill over the decades, so she used the college’s links with In Situ, who run the Mill as a gallery space, to record the building as it is now and to explore its history. She has found this a rewarding experience and has created some beautiful images that record the mill’s history.
“Diploma students have also done lots of work with outside agencies to develop their work experience skills, including a photography commission for Burnley Football Club.”
Nelson and Colne College offers students opportunities to enhance their experiences and studies, and earlier this year Foundation Art and Design students were delighted to be given the chance to meet and talk to international artist Suzanne Lacy at Northlight Mill.
