Jenifer Burden MBE has been welcomed to the board at Nelson and Colne College Group.
Jenifer brings with her extensive education and policy experience alongside a passion for how local areas build coherent pathways for technical education.
Director of Programmes for the Gatsby Foundation, and senior lead on a number of Gatsby’s programmes to support the delivery of technical education, Jenifer also taught for 13 years in the Northwest, followed by roles at the University of York and Association for Science Education, as well as the inaugural Director of the National STEM Centre.

“I’ve worked with a number of my new colleagues previously and know what difference they can make for learners, as well as how phenomenal they all are.
“It is such an exciting time to be joining the group, with ambitious plans to develop the offer further and ensure all our learners can reach their ambitions and find routes into their chosen, high-quality careers.”
The Board is made up of members from business, professional, public sector and community backgrounds, and sets the strategy for the college as well as making sure it is run effectively and provides high-quality education.
