Huge congratulations to Nelson and Colne College Apprentice Heather Berry (Level 3 Apprentice – Library, Information & Archive Services Assistant) on her fantastic WIN at the recent Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards 2022 (held at Mill Farm Sports Village in Wesham on 31 March).

Heather is completing her Apprenticeship at Eccleston Library and was nominated by her line manager, Julie Baxendale.

As to why she nominated Heather for the award, Julie said “Over the course of Heather’s apprenticeship, I have seen her grow with confidence and professional ability within her role as library assistant. Heather has been very adaptable during her apprenticeship, which has been under extenuating circumstances during covid regulations and lockdowns. Heather is a valued member of the team, and well respected by our customers.”

On her Health and Public Service Apprentice of the Year Award, Heather said “It was an honour just to be nominated and I definitely didn’t expect to win, the other nominees were amazing! It is thanks to the support of my wonderful friend and mentor Julie that I have been able to achieve everything I have within the library service. She cheers me on and lifts me up and I can’t thank her enough. I feel honoured to have won the award and thank all those at LCC and Nelson and Colne college who have made this new library apprenticeship possible.”

The Awards

The Inaugural Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards celebrate and recognise the hardworking individuals and organisations involved in apprenticeships and how they shape our future.

Not only does winning an award mean recognition for the apprentice, but it’s also a major morale boost for the company and workforce that supports the apprentice.
