The fantastic art work of Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form’s talented Art students has been on display at the College, and received great acclaim from visitors at the Private Viewing Art Exhibition on Friday 24th June.
An exhibition of the students’ best work was on display in the College’s Theatre and main art studios and visitors to the private exhibition enjoyed an evening viewing the fabulous array of artwork, ranging from photography and fine part, to textiles, costume design and graphics! Canapés were served and music was provided by students of the College, creating an up-beat atmosphere.
The Art department at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form enjoys an unrivalled reputation for excellence and in particular, its Foundation Art and Design programme, which is a pre-degree course aimed at helping students to decide on their preferred specialism, enjoys great success each year. This year, students will be progressing to some of the top art and design degree programmes in the country, including Textiles at the Edinburgh College of Art, Fashion Design at the Leeds College of Art and Photography at Huddersfield University. Likewise, students are progressing into exciting and challenging careers in the art industry, including Graphic Design, tattoo apprenticeships and starting their own photography business!
Art and Design Curriculum Leader, Joanne Hadcroft said, “Each year, I am astounded by the talents displayed by our art students at our annual art exhibition. Unbelievably, the standard seems to get better and better and I am extremely proud of our young artists – I am confident that they have fantastic careers in front of them in the art industries.”
