Nelson and Colne College Group (NCCG) student Martha Green has won T-Level Placement Student of the Year at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust’s (LSCft) annual apprenticeship awards.
Martha worked on placement in LSCft with the community stroke and neuro team at Ribbleton Clinic in Preston.
Working alongside a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and other support staff, Martha was able to assess patients in their homes and assisted colleagues in identifying patient needs, goals and supported with treatment planning.
Martha said: “I am extremely proud to win the T-Level Student of the Year.
“Going out on placement with all the professionals was quite daunting, however my mentors were really helpful and made me feel comfortable, which helped me develop my skills.
“My tutor, Emily, has definitely helped me to grow on my placement. Giving me the right advice help me to get the best out of the placement and I am excited to develop these skills further towards my future career.”
Emily Whitfield, T-Level Healthcare Science Lecturer and Curriculum Leader for Technical and Vocational Personal Development, at NCCG said: “We are incredibly proud of Martha and her achievements both in the classroom and on the placement.
“This award is testament to her hard work and dedication. She embodies everything the T-Level is about.”

“Her award is a true reflection of her commitment and enthusiasm in her studies. Well done Martha.”
In the first year of her T-Level, Martha completed a rotational two-week placement where she had the opportunity to shadow teams within the physical health services allowing her to explore different facets of the NHS for future career options.

“Carol Snape, Tony Young and the Practice Education Facilitation team alongside Natalie Bradley and the Apprenticeship team have been instrumental in supporting the T levels health care, allied healthcare professional cadets and apprentices to ensure their success and Martha, in particular, did an incredible job providing patient-focused care and truly deserves her award win.
“Her commitment and passion are a testament to the quality of our apprenticeship program and the support from our amazing teams.”
The annual LSCft Apprenticeship Awards took place this year at Blackpool FC’s Stadium as part of National Apprenticeship Week, with more than 100 people attending to honour the hard work and dedication of the organisation’s apprentices.
