“I have always wanted to work in education but I only recently looked at Further Education – it was a natural progression for me.
“My ultimate goal is to become a lecturer in Further Education – preferably at the college. I would definitely recommend NCC’s University Centre as people here are very supportive.”
All University Centre students have access to specialist facilities to help them master industry skills and get career ready. The Centre also works in close partnership with Pearson, the University of Cumbria and the University of Huddersfield.
Steve Wright, Nelson and Colne College’s Director for Higher Education, said: “We’re really looking forward to showcasing our wide range of Higher Level qualifications offered through our University Centre, which will appeal to both employers and individual learners.
“For employers, tailored programmes are offered to ensure staff gain the relevant industry qualifications to meet the needs of the business, without impacting on the day-to-day, while individual learners can fast-track their careers with a tailored programme to suit personal and professional needs – helping them gain a qualification in their own time and at their own pace.
“Entry requirements to our courses are flexible too with life experience, meaning work history and previous learning all able to count towards university credits for learners. Employers can benefit as well from a discount with multiple employee bookings.
“Qualifications achieved through the University Centre can lead to progression on to full Honour degrees and some of them can be completed as part of Apprenticeships. We look forward to welcoming visitors through the door and explaining more about our offer on Thursday 19 April. Our expert tutors will be on hand, and there will also be more information available on finance options and support.”
