If your son/daughter is going to be absent from College they must ring the Absence Hotline on 01282 440 293 before 9am and leave a message with their:
- Name
- Student number
- Course and personal tutor or course leader name
They must also state:
- When they expect to return
- Reason for absence
This will ensure that a message is passed on to relevant teaching staff.
However, if a student misses classes, their final grade is likely to suffer. Please support us by encouraging your son/daughter to attend all classes on time and complete all the set work.
In addition, please ensure that no holidays are booked during term time. To view the College term dates, please click here.
If your son/daughter is absent from a class and has not contacted the absence hotline, then we will send you an e-mail or text to inform you of their absence. To do this we will use the details you gave us on the permission form your son/daughter has handed in. Persistent absences can lead to disciplinary action and, ultimately, a student’s place can be jeopardised due to this.
Please ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details in order for us to be able to contact you should this be required. Your son/daughter should have brought an emergency contact visits permission form for you to complete and sign. If there is ever an occasion where your son/daughter needs to go to hospital, we will endeavour to contact you. A member of staff will accompany your son/daughter to hospital and ensure that they are registered within the hospital’s care.
