Children from a Pendle nursery had a cracking time at Christmas parties hosted by Nelson and Colne College.

NCC has strong links with the Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated Walton Lane Nursery School in Nelson as a number of College Childcare students go on work placement to enhance their learning experience.

The College hosted two parties for nursery children as a way of saying thank you and festive fun was had by all who attended.

Students and children enjoyed games such as ‘Pass the Parcel’ and ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ as well as activities including cake decorating and a sing along to Christmas songs.

The children were on their best behaviour ahead of the parties and Father Christmas duly delivered some goodies which meant each child also received a present to go home with.

Carol Dobson, Curriculum Leader for Childcare at NCC, said: “Everybody got into the spirit and the children had a great time. The Level 3 Year 2 students held their party on Friday and it was the turn of the Level 3 Year 1 students on Monday.

“A lot of our Childcare students go out on placements to Walton Lane to put into practice the skills they learn in College.

“Walton Lane have been very good with us down the years and hosting Christmas parties is just a seasonal way for us to show our gratitude.”

First year Childcare student Taeba Noreen, 16, said: “The course is really good and the teachers have been really helpful with assessments.

“I’ve been made to feel welcome and the course has allowed me to gain a broad experience of working with children of different ages.”
