A student ready to embark on a new journey at University has handed out advice on how to make the most of College life.

Nelson and Colne College student Holly Mayor, 18, who has achieved AAB in Chemistry, Biology and Maths this A Level Results Day, will be heading to Newcastle University to read Biomedical Science in the next academic year.

The former Pendle Vale College student has thoroughly enjoyed her time at College and has named her highlight as being able to help young adults in Foundation Learning with their reading skills. She has also made the most of the enrichment opportunities on offer, including taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Holly said: “I am so relieved and really happy! The teaching and facilities at Nelson and Colne College are really good – all the staff have an open door and it is really easy to find help.

“I would say to other students throw yourself into College life and don’t hold yourself back. Make as many friends as you can and get involved with enrichment activities. In the future, I hope to go into medical research, and I am looking forward to going to University.”

Nelson and Colne College have maintained a 100% pass rate for the fourth consecutive year! A quarter of students at the College have achieved coveted A* to A grades, while many are going on to study at top universities across the UK.
