Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form is excited to welcome Carrie Parr and Alistair Fordom as they join the management team, leading on curriculum, student experience and quality.
Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form has a long-standing tradition of excellence with whole generations of families benefitting from the education they received whilst studying there. Carrie and Alistair join at a time of great achievement at the College, which has recently celebrated being the top College in the country for A Level Value Added Scores, which look at the grades a student arrived with, compared to the ones they left with at A Level. The College is committed to ensuring that its students continue to gain a world-class education which will encourage them to aim high and set them up to become successful in what they go on to do in life
Alistair joins the College as Assistant Principal (Advanced Studies) from Loreto College in Manchester and Carrie has joined from Runshaw College, near Leyland; as Assistant Principal (Vocational Studies). Both come from highly successful and high achieving colleges, meaning that they bring a wealth of experience to their roles, alongside enthusiasm and commitment to student success and fulfilment.
Alistair started at the College in April this year and said, “I have been involved in post 16 education for a significant amount of time and have taught in various parts of the country in some very challenging but always rewarding contexts. It is my belief that education can, and should be, life changing and joyous. I want to make a difference at Nelson and Colne College, hopefully helping students and staff realise their true potential, achieving at the highest of levels, whilst feeling purposeful and fulfilled in their studies and work. I have received a very warm and friendly welcome at Nelson and Colne College and already feel very much at home.”
Carrie, who joined the College in February agreed with Alistair and said, “My educational background is predominantly psychology and the psychology of personal self-development. I firmly believe that we can achieve what we want in life by setting and focussing on how to achieve our goals and aspirations with resilience and determination, I know that as human beings, we can realise our ambitions. I am looking forward to working with colleagues and communities here at Nelson and Colne College and the Pendle District, and feel honoured to be amongst such high achieving students who have achieved the highest added value scores in the country. The College has a certain kind of care and magic, which permeates throughout.”
