Students who studied at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form are celebrating as they secure top university places on prestigious and highly competitive degree programmes.
The College offers students with a unique opportunity to take part in pioneering Pre-Professional Programmes for Medicine, Law, Teaching and Journalism. The Pre-Professional Programme for Medicine (Pre-med) was the first programme developed and following on from the success of this, the Pre-Law, Pre-Journalism and Pre-Teaching programmes were created.
As part of the Pre-Professional Programmes, students participate in a range of interesting and exciting activities, including visits from former students now working in their dream careers, presentations from industry experts such as radiographers (Pre-Med) and Solicitors (Pre-Law), and specialist trips including NOWGEN Genetics, or the Courts in Preston and Burnley. In addition, students enrolled on the programmes receive help in finding and securing relevant work experience, essential to their university application and guidance in choosing the correct university and course for their future career.
This autumn, over 50 students from Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form are embarking on a range of prestigious Medicine or Law related degree programmes, ranging from Medicine, Criminal Law and Pharmacy, to Physiology, Pharmaceutical Science and Criminology. Likewise, students have gone on to study Primary Education and Broadcast Journalism and are now on track to achieve their dream careers!
