ICT students at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form have enjoyed the opportunity to visit EON Reality’s VR and Innovation Academy.
EON Reality, the world leader in virtual reality-based knowledge transfer for industry, education and edutainment, recently opened a new office in Manchester and launched the UK’s first VR and Innovation Academy.
The Academy is a part time course which develops complete workflow skills, including design, modelling and coding. It is the place where natural entrepreneurial talent is recognised and valued; EON Reality is constantly looking for new and innovative ideas that can transform how they work, and so the Academy also creates employment opportunities at EON Reality both in the UK and abroad.
Students on the new and exciting Games Programming and Software Development ICT pathway were invited to the new Manchester office to have a look at the technology that the company develops, and to find out more about the VR and Innovation Academy. The students were thrilled to be invited to EON Reality, a hub for excellence in the virtual reality industry, and the College was delighted to be able to facilitate this experience. The College is dedicated to giving students a well-rounded understanding of life after their studies, which for some may mean a career in virtual reality or a similar field.
One of the students who attended the event, Joseph Loveland, said, “EON Reality had a lot of interesting and promising technology on display, mostly focusing on virtual reality. The trip showed off a variety of very exciting activities. There was a mixture of educational and entertainment programs that showed a glimpse of the future; we got to simulate a plumber’s job in one virtual reality experience, and in another we had a 3D virtual tour of a city. We also got to use some hardware like the Oculus Rift, and at the end of the day we got to learn about the company itself and what it would be like to work there. Overall, I think EON Reality was a very interesting place to visit, and the day as a whole was fun and engaging. If you ever have the opportunity, I would definitely recommend visiting EON!”
