Nelson and Colne College have outstripped local and national Higher Education providers in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).

Results from this year’s survey – the largest of its kind in the world – shows Nelson and Colne College is number one for student satisfaction in Lancashire from those students asked about their experience of Higher Education.

The survey asks students their views on a range of factors, including their academic experience, teaching and assessments, and institutions’ mental wellbeing services.

The College scored above 90% for the overall categories around learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, and an incredible 96.7% for teaching.

When students were asked “how good are teaching staff at explaining things?” and “how often do teaching staff make the subject engaging?” Nelson and Colne College scored 97.8 per cent.

One student said: “The tutors on the course are amazing, helpful and supportive. They really helped me to believe in myself and start to plan my future. The college also allowed me to access counselling which has been very beneficial to my mental health.”
