The fantastic art work of Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form’s talented Art students has been on display at the College, and received great acclaim from visitors at the Private Viewing Art Exhibition.
An exhibition of the students’ best work was on display in the College’s Theatre and main art studios and visitors to the private exhibition enjoyed an evening viewing the fabulous array of artwork, ranging from photography and fine art, to textiles, costume design and graphics!
The Art department at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form enjoys an unrivalled reputation for excellence and in particular, its Foundation Art and Design programme, which is a pre-degree course aimed at helping students to decide on their preferred specialism, enjoys great success each year. This year, students will be progressing to some exciting and challenging art and design degree programmes, including Graphics with Illustration at De Montford University, Textiles with Surface Pattern at the University of Huddersfield, Contemporary Applied Arts at the Hereford College of Arts and Fashion Design at the University of Salford. Students are also progressing into careers in the art industry, including a Creative Arts Apprenticeship.
Art and Design Curriculum Leader, Joanne Hadcroft said, “The June exhibitions are the culmination of a year’s work in the art studios. A varied selection: Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC Art and Design Diplomas, AS and A2 specialism in Art subjects including Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Textiles, plus the Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design.
I am astounded by the talents displayed by our art students at our annual art exhibition. Unbelievably, the standard seems to get better and better and I am extremely proud of our young artists – I am confident that they will have fantastic careers in front of them within the creative arts industries.”
