Students studying for qualifications in Engineering at the College, have joined together to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice, by holding a festive themed charity football match – complete with Santa hats or reindeer antlers!
The College is keen to promote sport participation amongst its students and some of the Engineering students already meet regularly to take part in the College’s 5-a-side fixtures. Therefore, it was only a small step for the students to come up with the idea of a competitive 11-a-side clash between the two rival tutor groups!
The charity game was co-ordinated by two Level 3 Engineering Students, Kaleem Ali and Ross Thompson. Rivalry between the two tutor groups was fierce – but only in the name of charity of course! Despite freezing temperatures and hail storms, the two continued to battle it out until the Santa hats were victors, winning 7 goals to 5.
