Lancashire Adult Learning and Nelson and Colne College are ready to host an action packed day of festive fun and seasonal spirit on Saturday 8th December.

LAL’s annual Festive Market will be held at Nelson and Colne College from 10am until 2pm, and this year, the event is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

There will be a wide range of activities planned for the whole family to enjoy, from face painting to a bouncy castle, and a reindeer rodeo to an indoor ice rink. More than 40 stalls will also be available to browse, providing the perfect opportunity to pick up presents for the festive season.

Children can meet Santa in his grotto and even write him a letter, there will be musical entertainment throughout the event and there will also be the opportunity to take part in a variety of ‘have-a-go’ taster sessions for courses run by the Lancashire Adult Learning team – including Lego Challenge, Holiday Languages, Arts and Crafts and more.

Nelson and Colne College’s Hair and Beauty students will run a number of stalls offering everything from glitter plaits, braids and partings through to personalised baubles while Foundation Learning students will also be putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test selling tickets for a huge raffle as well as homemade decorations, cards and a range of festive themed sweets.

Principal of Lancashire Adult Learning and Nelson and Colne College Amanda Melton said: “Our Festive Market is always a popular occasion and a great way to begin the season of goodwill.

“With even more festive fun to be had at this year’s event with our expanded blend of fantastic family learning and enjoyable activities, high quality entertainment and broad range of stalls, families are in for a real treat on the day.

“We look forward to welcoming the communities of East Lancashire and beyond through the doors for a day of merriment.”

During the Festive Market, adults will have the perfect opportunity to speak to LAL’s expert staff, pick up the latest course guide and enrol onto courses beginning in January 2019.

The guide for Spring is full of inspiration for the new year with courses to help adults across the Red Rose County develop a new hobby, learn a new skill, enhance their social life, gain employment or change career.

Nelson and Colne College is the number one college in the country for 16-18 learner achievement, while in February, Lancashire Adult Learning was named as the national Adult and Community Learning Provider of the Year winner at the Tes FE Awards.
