Travelling To College
Nelson and Colne College is conveniently located just off Junction 13 of the M65 motorway, at the gateway to the village of Barrowford and close to Nelson town centre. Nelson is well served by public transport and prospective students will find that there is a wide range of travel options available to get to College.
Driving and Parking at College
Students can park on our secure, barriered car park. You can apply for a car park permit at your College induction. Disabled parking is available for blue badge holders. Students will need a College ID and car park permit to access the car park.
Cycling to College
Students are encouraged to cycle to College where possible. Not only is this the greenest way to travel, but it’s beneficial to your health too! The College has a large covered bike shed for storing your bikes during classes.

There are numerous bus services which operate in the area. The majority of services in Pendle stop at Nelson Bus Interchange and some stop outside the College on Scotland Road. A regular bus service operates between the Interchange and College, or alternatively the College is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Interchange.
Travel Support
All 16-18 year old students are eligible for subsidised termly bus passes. You may also be eligible for FREE bus travel if your annual household income is under £37,500, which is one of the highest thresholds within the local area.
Bus Travel
Transdev passes are valid on all services within the specified zone and cover evening and weekend travel, including half terms and summer holidays.
Subsidised termly bus passes are available to purchase by making an application on the Bus Pass and Bursary Portal (Pay My Student). The cost to the student will depend on where they live and in some cases the service(s) being accessed. Students entitled to the support from the College Bursary Fund are eligible for a FREE termly bus pass.

College Buses
Alongside the widespread Transdev services, and to help make getting to College quicker and easier, we also have our own direct-to-College buses. These will pick you up from set locations and drop you off directly within the College campus. They also do return routes after College too!
Train Services
The College can be accessed via an hourly train service which operates between Colne and Preston. The direct route covers the following stations: Preston, Blackburn, Accrington, Huncoat, Hapton, Rose Grove, Burnley Barracks, Burnley Central, Brierfield, Nelson (for the College) and Colne. From Nelson Interchange, College is only a 10-minute walk.
